Here are some questions that get asked by our customers on a regular basis.The answers to these questions may help you answer some of your own questions.
| Q :What is the main advantage of running your 2v heads over my ported factory 2v heads? A: There are many advantages,firstly the throttle response is improved noticable, not only will you see a peak torque increase,but it will be surprisingly broad compared to what the iron 2v heads can deliver.Also the fuel economy is much improved and not to forget,the weight saving is quite large. |
Q; Which head bolts or studs are required? I ask this because the other brand of heads require costly custom studs just to bolt them on correctly. A; Just normal cleveland style head bolts or stud kits that ARP list for a 351 cleveland.Nothing different at all,you can use your exsisting ones if they are up to it and are in as new condition. |
Q: Which of your cylinder heads will best suit my engine combo to allow me to achieve my goals? |
| Q: What head torque settings do you recommend with your heads? A: Follow normal torque settings,our castings are heat treated properly and achieve the full T6 specs,so altering the tension is not required. |
| Q: Do your heads take the normal spark plugs? A: No they don't.Like all good aftermarket cylinder heads they require a long reach 5/8 hex washer seat type plug like the NGK BCP6ES range,never use a tapered seat plug in alloy heads,you will damage them trying to get them out as the taper locks onto the alloy once it goes threw a heat cylcle. |
| Q: What length pushrods are required? A: Pushrod length may and most likely will differ as camshaft base circle, lifter length,block decks or cylinder head surfacing or valve tip length can all alter the required pushrod length.It is not at all uncommon to need a different length pushrod for intake and exhaust.We recommend checking pushrod requirements on pre or final assembly. |
| Q:Why should someone purchase AFD over your competitors? A: Hear at AFD,all the design work is done by AFD's owner,a renouned porter of some 20 years exprerience and has a real passion for Ford cylinder heads and the overall expense of fitting them is always a major consideration in the design process.Things like keeping the exhaust port in a as close to stock location and being able to use pretty much everything from your existing cleveland whilst producing never seen before performance results from a cylinder head that retains all of those factory type layouts.This all equates to less expense and more performance from an AFD product.I don't think any of our competitiors can even think of laying claim to that. |
Q:Why are AFD heads several hundred dollars cheaper than the other mob? A: We are not greedy business people,we sell alot of product very quickly.our sales are believed in selling more product for less to secure our future rather than less for more. |
We offer complete Custom Built Crate Engines with an Option of having the Engine Pre Run on our Test Stand to do the Break In, Set the Timing and Record Oil and Temp as well as a Basic Carb Dial In before the Engine gets Shipped out to the Customer. Now all that remains is to install the eng, wire it, and fire it up. No worries about wiping out cam lobes and burning up starters trying to start a New Engine. All that is taken care of with our Pre Run Crate Engine Option Program.
I have been personally called by customers using AFD Heads & Intake Manifolds for the first time and they are very satisfied with outstanding performance. One Customer from Georgia stated that he felt his car was faster with the AFD Products on Motor than it was with Nitrous before the Heads & Manifold. Response around 7,000 RPM to 7,500 was unbelieveable.
